Jennyoga...
"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind
is everything. What we think, we become." (In loving
memory, Feb. 6th, 2008)
~Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Class schedule
is located below

Beginning with Qi Gong breathing -- a combination of powerful, deep
and healing techniques that provide a full range gentle movements
with loving intent in the heart -- Jennifer's style of
vinyasa, hatha
yoga consists of a series of poses that beginners and advanced
students can enjoy depending on the level of class. Her classes
are designed to heat up the body from the inside to
release cellular toxins and move deep breathing into the areas that need release
of old, unhealthy emotional blockages. This way, the body can
remove the obstacles that prevent us from being truly free. She
also carefully hand-picks the type of music to be used during the
class so that the routine has an energizing, gentle and inspiring flow to it.
She
calls it... Jennyoga!

Jennyoga
specializes in emotional release, fertility problems, recovery from
substance abuse, yogic/tantric relationship therapy, and opening the
heart chakra. She has studied with Ana Forrest
extensively, and Robert Boustany, Jonny Kest, John
Friend, Shiva Rea, David Williams, Doug Swenson, Bikram, Kundalini and Tantric Yoga styles
creating an amalgam in
therapeutic, restorative, sweaty and expansive yoga linked with the breath.

Feng Shui
your Mind/Body! Turn up
the heat from the inside and melt away years of
accumulative clutter in the mind/body with an
intense, sweaty, expansive yoga that we call
Shaktinsity or Red Hot Yoga.
The program of yoga Jennifer teaches is an amalgam of Boustany, Ana
Forrest, Shiva Rea, Jonny Kest, Iyengar, David
Williams and John Friend
styles, integrating the mind, body and spirit with
the expansion of the heart through flow and grace. Red Hot Yoga
allows you to learn the discipline of yoga
through intensity to help facilitate a deeper
stretch and increase awareness of our bodies.
Listening to your heart, allowing it to open and
following its wisdom as guidance can further you
along the path toward being truly free: emotionally,
physically, spiritually, and mentally. All
levels of our being are connected.
What is Shakti?
Prana - "life-force of creation"; Vinyasa
-evolution, wave, cycle
Flow - the uninterrupted state of yoga
Shakti – expression of love and manifestation
within experience
Shakti Yoga is the expression of the flowing,
nurturing aspects of our lives as human beings with
the prana in an experience called Vinyasa. It is
expansive, opening and graceful. Each movement has a
corresponding breath which teaches you to flow in
life with the breath in everything that you do in
order to promote longevity, balance and a
loving state of bliss.
Shakti personifies the dynamic, manifesting energy
that creates the universe, while the male Shiva
represents the static, unmanifested aspect of the
divine reality. The idea of Shakti is prominent in
Tantra where the Kundalini energy is regarded as a
goddess,
and the theme of masculine-feminine polarity is
developed and unified.
In Hinduism, Shakti is an aspect of Devi, and a
personification of God as the Divine Mother who
represents the active, dynamic principles of
feminine power. In Shaktism, Shakti is worshiped as
the Supreme Being. The word Shakti is used in a
variety of ways ranging from its use as a way of
signifying the ultimate primordial creative power,
to expressing the capacity or power of words to
convey meaning. Etymologically it
is derived from the root 'shak,' meaning potency or
the potential to produce, an assertion of Her
inherent creative aptitude.
All interpretations of the word 'shakti' hold common
one parameter - namely power. Specifically, Shakti
means power, force and feminine energy. She
represents
the fundamental creative instinct underlying the
cosmos, and is the energizing force of all divinity,
of every being and every thing. Devotees believe the
whole universe to be a manifestation of Shakti, who
is also known by her general name Devi, from the
Sanskrit
root 'div' which means 'to shine.'
The rural people of South India believe that Shakti,
the Great Mother, is the protector of the village,
the punisher of evil people, the curer of diseases,
and the one who gives welfare to the village. They
celebrate Shakti Jataras with a lot of hue and great
interest once a year.
Kali, destroyer of false consciousness
Kali is shakti's form when she
needs to destroy false consciousness - Jennifer's
favorite ;O)
You must be the
change you wish to see in the world.

Imagine you are in a parking lot and someone talking on their
cell phone, etc. bumps into and dents your car. In order for the
body shop workers to repair the dent, they have to heat up the metal
and reshape it into its original form. They can’t just bang it
out and have it look smooth and new again. Our bodies are much
the same. We have to "heat" them to align our frames, reverse
our injuries, and eliminate the “dings." Here's what Beryl Bender
Birch, author of "Power Yoga: The Total Strength and Flexibility
Workout", says about it:
|
"As the
connective tissue becomes heated by our practice, it becomes
less “solid” and more “liquid.” We become pliable for reshaping.
In this pliable state, we apply the form of the practice that
begins the remolding process. Tight, “dead” spaces that may have
been shut down and in shock for years begin to open up and allow
increased circulation. Thus, old clumps of gnarly scar tissue,
debris, and other by-products of the healing process get moved
out, not to mention environmental toxins that accumulate in the
body. The practice can then undo the rigidity and create more
space for intercellular fluids to circulate and bring in
nutrients while carrying off toxins. So not only does the
practice work on restoring function to an injured area and
facilitating realignment, but it also works to detoxify the
organs and tissue and revitalize the entire system.” |
